Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking which was created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.
What distinguishes hip-hop from other forms of dance is that it is often “freestyle” (improvisational) in nature and hip-hop dance crews often engage in freestyle dance competitions—colloquially referred to as “battles”. Crews, freestyling, and battles are identifiers of this style. Hip-hop dance can be a form of entertainment or a hobby. It can also be a way to stay active in competitive dance and a way to make a living by dancing professionally.
One of the stand-out features in our training methods is the focus on freestyle dancing. We mentor our students with the goal of building their self-confidence so that they use their own creativity in their dance styles.
We are dedicated to the development of contemporary dancing in Bangalore. We have been providing hip hop dance classes for almost 5 years now and have trained more than 150 students in this popular dance style. About Hip Hop music:
Hip hop music, also called rap music, developed in the United States in the late 1970s which consists of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping. It developed as part of hip hop culture, a subculture defined by four key stylistic elements: rapping, DJing, break dancing, and graffiti writing.
New school hip hop was the second wave of hip hop music, originating in 1983–84. The Golden age hip hop period was an innovative period between the mid-1980s and the early 1990s. In the 1990s, it began to diversify with other regional styles emerging, such as Southern rap and Atlanta hip hop. At the same time, it continued to be assimilated into other genres of popular music, examples being neo soul and nu metal. Hip hop became a best-selling genre in the mid-1990s and the top selling music genre by 1999. The popularity of hip hop music continued through the 2000s and increasingly finding their way into mainstream pop.
